Re: Goose Chase
The body must be run in its stock form. Like the trans am class the cars are run in a realistic format. If the car has a spoiler stock then it is ok. But no wings. This will be a slower class but the racing should be loads of fun. I think the cars are a little too fast for what we will be doing with them. Time will tell. Post up some pics when you get it painted.

I will be posting the official rules for the Goose class this week on this thread. If all goes well, I will try to do it Wednesday night.
Stay tuned
ps, Brett is absolutely correct about the bodies being run in stock form

savage, what surface have you been driving on? On carpet it runs pretty good; no looping at all. Decent traction.

Re: Goose Chase
OK, as promised, here is the official rules for the new Goose class.
1) MOTOR
Venom 21T brushed motor only
2) BATTERY
any 7.4V 2 cell lipo pack up to 50C
3) TIRES/WHEELS
ABC Hobby Goose tires and wheels as well as Sweep Mini tires and wheels.
other brands of tires will be considered and reviewed.
No solid dish rims of any sort are allowed.
4) HOP UP PARTS
Any ABC Hobby hop-up parts are allowed. Also, the Exotek chassis is legal.
SNR graphite chassis is also legal. snrgraphite.com
5) BODIES
All ABC HOBBY bodies are legal. Also, below is a list of HPI and Tamiya
bodies that should fit the Goose and are legal.
HPI
#7211 Porsche 911 Carrera (this body may require small alteration to battery
holder to fit)
#7214 Lancia Stratos (very cool body)
#7206 Mini Cooper
TAMIYA
#51402 Honda S800 Racing
#51420 Alpine A110
All of the above bodies have the same 210mm wheelbase and the same general
dimensions as the Goose
No add-on wings
ABSOLUTELY NO NASCAR OR MODERN "NO PARTICULAR CAR MAKE" TOURING CAR
BODIES ALLOWED!! If anyone wants to run a separate NASCAR or touring class
under their own rules, that's your business.
6) PAINT SCHEMES
Try to make the cars look as real as possible. No wild day glo colors and
flames and skulls.
Please remember that this class is all about scale looking cars that look
just like the real thing. Please respect that.
Also, please do your best to race these cars in a respectful manner of the
cars and other racers. Please do not engage in some of the "slam bang" type
racing that I have seen occur in other classes. This is more of a scale fun
class and not a "balls to the wall, get out of my way or I'll run over you
racing class". These cars are tricky to drive and require a more sensitive
touch; they can't be manhandled as anyone who has tried one will tell you.
If anyone has any questions please feel free to post on this thread.
As founder of this class, I reserve the right to make changes to the rules as
needed.
Thank you

Re: Goose Chase
savage, I am looking into the diff issue. Not sure if it is adjustable. I will let everyone know what I find out.
Right now the biggest issue with running on blacktop is that it's very dirty and cold which does not make for good traction on a rear wheel drive car. It handles way better with no looping on carpet. For the blacktop to work we need to clean it and the weather needs to warm up more.

Re: Goose Chase
Ryan, The diff is adjustable just like a normal ball diff. There is a philips screw that you tighten and loosen accordingly.

Re: Goose Chase
Thanks, Rob for the diff info. I have had the car over a month now and I didn't notice that.
I think Ryan is right to loosen the diff a little for outdoors, it should help.
When we used to race Tamiya F1 cars outdoors we would loosen the diff a little and it helped.

Re: Goose Chase
Ran the car on some carpet after setup changes. Seems to drive well. Not sure what asphalt will bring. Still need to get some good track time. Stop in to Truck and autowares in the wilton mall for your numbers if you need them. They can print them up in any number, size and color you need. I let them know that other people may be in. I got mine with #35 and 2" dia.

Re: Goose Chase
I also noticed that ABC sells a gear diff as an option. (puzzled look) Not sure why any one would want to "upgrade" to a gear diff. But it is an option.

Re: Goose Chase
Hey Rob, I forgot to ask you today if you ordered the JConcepts clear chassis protective film yet. Now that we are soon to go outdoors parking lot racing I need that film to protect the bottom of my chassis.
Let me know if you ordered it and when it will be in.
Anyone else interested?

Re: Goose Chase
This post is for everyone in the new Goose class and the outdoor asphalt racing series soon to begin.
I would like some input as to how we should do the points for the Goose class. Rob said it is up to us as to how we want to do the points. As I am the founder of the class, I thought I would start the process by offering a points system that I have used in the past and found to be very successful and fair.
1st= 100 points
2nd= 95
3rd= 90
4th= 85
5th= 80
6th= 75
7th= 70
and so on, in 5 point increments.
Since it is summer racing in the few months of the year that we have nice warm weather, and people typically take vacations, go camping, fishing, etc during those months; it is a given that on any one week at least 1 or 2 people might not be able to race; so what we have done in the past is to give those who can't make it for a race weekend, last place points for the day. By doing this it keeps them alive in the point series and they still have a chance to win the championship, and any end of season prizes.
We who have used this point system in the past have found it to be very fair to all.
I would appreciate your input on this guys.
Thank you

Re: Goose Chase
That's a nice job you did on that body, but as I stated in the rules, no NASCAR bodies are allowed in this class. If you want to use it in a separate NASCAR Goose class then go ahead.
Sorry, but no exceptions.

Re: Goose Chase
I just want to say to all the prospective Goose drivers that I'm not trying to be a hardnose about the body rule; but I think I made it very clear what bodies are allowed, and what ones aren't.
Further, I would appreciate it if all involved gave it their individual best effort to make their bodies as realistic as possible. Don't just do a "quickie crappy" paint job; take your time and do a quality, realistic paint and decal job.
This class is more about scale realism than pure, all-out performance; and that is why I am very particular not only about the bodies, but also the way we drive the cars. As I stated in the rules: "no slam bam, get out of my way or I'll run you over driving". Those who are guilty of that will get 0 points. And if that turns some away from the Goose class then so be it. I would rather have 4 or 5 guys who respect the spirit of the class, than 10 guys, half of which, just don't care and use any old body and do crappy paint jobs and drive like maniacs.

Re: Goose Chase
There will be classes for everyone who wants to race. This is after all supposed to be fun. I respect everyones opinion of how a class should be made up. Not everyone can have ABC Hobby paint their body. These are after all race cars and have racing paint schemes. Dont be put off if you cant paint your body that well you will have a place to race!!!!!!!
