Wow, dude that is not good. Different plastics will react to chemicals with different results. It is always a good idea to test a small area first.

Doh! What a mess : ( Just so we know, what kind of wheels were the ones that melted and what were the ones that didn't?

Re: how to not change tires
Stock tc3 wheels did not melt and after soaking in the acetone for 24hrs the rubber tires came off like they were never glued, and the plastic wheels were perfect. 12year old Yokomo wheels melted in one min. like the guy in Robocop after falling into the tank acid.

To be honest I don't remember. The tires were all ripped up when I put them in.

Re: how to not change tires
I have used the baking method, (350 degree oven 10-15 mins) it worked great. Basicaly you just need to heat the glue till the bond breaks. The tires and rims are reusable, sometimes you may need to scrape some leftover glue off, but a small flathead screwdriver will do the trick. Boiling works as well, but the foams will soak up the hot water, and when you try to remove the tires hot water comes spilling out. Ouch! Baking was quick easy and clean, but my wife didn't appreciate the smell of baking rubber!!
