New guy looking for help with buying an 18r Empty New guy looking for help with buying an 18r

Hey, I'm new here, having recently taken a job off exit 9e on 787 I decided to see what SnH racing was all about. Dave gave me the low down and after figuring out 1/18th was the way for me to go I started looking into 18r's. I'm looking for used so ebay is where I started but I have a lot of questions.

The convert kit from 18t/b to r seems like it's mainly shorter a-arms and some other small bits. Are there any structural differences (like the chassis) or with the convert kit, do you have the same thing you would if you bought an 18r new?

I haven't seen the rules posted for carpet racing for the 1/18 class yet, but I know I want to be more toward a spec class than a open class. That being said, I was hoping to get some opinions on some ebay finds. None are exactly what I want, but I'm hoping the stuff I don't want is valuable enough to swap it for the stuff I do want.

This one seems ideal, except it needs a motor (a basic one is like $10 right?). Local, lots of extra parts, pretty much everything I need. My only concern is it seems like it was an 18t because of the front bumper and I'm not sure if the conversion makes it a true 18r.

It's cheap and I have a radio, but it lacks batteries, charger and I'm sure the receiver wouldn't work with my radio so I'd have to replace that. Plus I'd want to swap the motor out to whatever everyone else is racing with. I assume brushless=fast. Would buying everything I need make it end up being more expensive than the 1st one?

I really, really like this guy but Dave said vendettas probably wouldn't have a place on the track. The parts included and the price is fantastic plus I prefer the vendetta over the 18r. Any chance there'd be a class that I could use it in?

Thanks for all the help in advance, it's been almost 10yrs since I last raced and I'm excited to get back in it! P.S. - If you snipe me on the auction links I posted, I will kill you. Suspect

So I got the vendetta ($71 +$10 for shipping, seems like a decent deal) and will most likely pick up an 18r in the near future. Can't hurt to have 2 minis! And maybe I'll get lucky and get to race it at S&H

Picking up my 18r today, can't wait! $80 for the car, radio, 3x sets of wheels/tires, 3 battery packs and some random spare parts. Just sad that I won't be able to use it today because it needs a motor. Looks like a visit to SnH after work! Might have a sweet 1/8 nitro buggy for sale if anyone is interested!
